NFTs without jargon

Think of an NFT as a distinguishable digital record. It is not the same as the picture, song or object it may point to.

Fungible versus non-fungible

Ten identical units of a fungible token can be exchanged one-for-one. An NFT is designed to represent a distinct token record, such as an individually numbered collectible.

What do you really own?

Owning an NFT does not automatically grant copyright, commercial reproduction rights, legal ownership of a physical object, or rights to access an online service. These depend on the actual contract and terms.

What about the picture?

An NFT may contain a link to an image stored elsewhere. That image or its hosting can change or disappear. Digital rarity does not establish historical authenticity.

Are all NFTs outside MiCA?

No. Classification depends on the individual characteristics and whether assets are genuinely unique and non-fungible. Large collections or fractional arrangements may require special consideration.

The Ancient Gods distinction

Our medallions are new illustrations inspired by mythology. NRT and FORT are fungible tokens, not NFTs or deeds of ownership of those pictures.

Let's make this simple

An NFT is like a numbered certificate in a digital register. The certificate and the painting it refers to are different things.

How it works, step by step

  1. A token record is created on a blockchain.
  2. Its metadata may refer to an image or another digital item.
  3. Owning that token does not automatically transfer the copyright to the image.
  4. Check any licence, contract or terms before assuming special rights.

A real-world example

An original illustration of an Etruscan goddess can be displayed online without being an NFT. NRT and FORT are fungible tokens; they are not NFTs.

Questions beginners often ask

Does buying an NFT give me the copyright?

Not automatically. Copyright or commercial rights require an applicable legal grant.

Can an NFT link stop working?

Yes. Some associated media is stored outside the blockchain and may become unavailable.
